Serge Métyvié (Canada)

Métyvié, (Serge Métivier) was born in Lévis (near Québec City) in 1954. He began drawing at age 5 and his parents quickly enrolled him in art and painting classes.In college he studied Graphic Arts and began career as an advertisement artist and political caricaturist for a local newspaper in Rivière-du-Loup (200 Km east of Quebec City) In 1982 Métyvié returned to Quebec City and embarked on a career as a caricaturist for a local television station (TéléCapitale) and began touring the larger cities in eastern Canada participing in festivals and expositions. He enjoys working with the public and has been doing these tours for 25 years now. He has also done a television show called “Fais-moi un Dessin” for Télé-Métropole in Montréal. Since the early 1990’s,Métyvié has collaborated with several magazines on a more or less regular basis and today works exclusively for specific publications such as: DÉLIRE’s mag (humour), Custom tour (motorcycling), and most recently: La Presse-Nautique (boating),and AVIATION-QUEBEC (aircraft hobby).He is also a political caricaturist for “QuebecHebdos” (Quebec City), Le “Journal de Lévis” and “LE MÉTROPOLE” in Montréal. Métyvié still makes occasional television appearances for his political drawings or just to liven up a show. (P.S.) Quebec City is the capital of province of Quebec in Canada. The majority of the people speak French whereas the rest of Canada is mainly English speaking.Therefore our country is deemed bilingual.Montréal City is the largest city in Quebec and is both bilingual and multi-ethnic.
