Glenn Hilario (Dominican Republic)

- Glenn Hilario, Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, have been working as a freelance illustrator in New York city for the past Twelve years. - Obtained a BFA degree in Illustration at Parsons School of Design in New York City in 1993 under Scholarship, after receiving a BFA in Advertising at APEC University, and an Associates degree in Fine Arts from Altos The Chavon School of Design in the Dominican Republic. - After graduating from Parsons, Glenn went on to working as a painter assistant for renown fine artist Howard Kanovitz, while trying to gain illustration jobs and clients in the illustration field. It wasn’t until 1996 when the magazine world started to use his retro, bold, streamline caricature style to illustrate American celebrities and editorial articles. His artistic influences range from comic books to art movements from the early 20th century like Art Deco, and Russian Costructivism. And international caricaturists like Al Hirschfield, Miguel Covarrubias, Paolo Garretto, and Robert Risko had been role models and inspiration in his career. - Glenn, had participated in several group shows including a show at the Society of Illustrators about the tragedy of 9/11, had his first solo show in 2002 at a gallery in one of the hippest upcoming neighborhoods in Brooklyn, Williamsburg, and in april 2007 was invited to exhibit his best Caricature work at the Daryl Roth Theater, Union Square NYC. - Print Magazine chose his cover for “ The Westword” newspaper from Colorado as one of the best for their annual competition issue in 2001. - Among his clients are: New York magazine, Vibe, Bussines Week, Sports Illustrated, Annie Sez, TV Guide, People, The World Street Journal, The Village Voice and The TV Channel Nickelodeon. - Recently, Glenn is working on his on Fine Art personal projects while juggling illustration jobs for his clients.
